The Process – Local & International Patients

Local Patients

1. Pre-Consultation

This will be when you enquire through us about bariatric surgery. From this initial discussion, we will strive to clarify and answer any of your questions and concerns. It won’t cost you anything, so go ahead and drop us a line.

It’s also through this pre-consultation that we determine your BMI, overall medical condition, and most important of all, whether we should move on to the next step, which is the consultation phase.

2. Consultation

Once we have determined that you’re potentially qualified for bariatric surgery, we will assist you in scheduling a consultation with our appointed bariatric surgeon. During the session, you are encouraged to ask the doctor anything about bariatric surgery. The doctor would also determine if you qualify for bariatric surgery.

3. Medical Test

If you’re qualified, you’ll be required to undergo a medical test. This will include a scope, ultrasound and a full blood test. Your bariatric surgeon will inform you specifically the type of test that’s required. This step is necessary to ensure that you’re fit for surgery. You’ll also be required to fill up a questionnaire to better understand and analyse your situation.

4. Surgery

If everything gets the green light, your bariatric surgeon’s office will coordinate and schedule the surgery date with you as well as brief you on the pre-surgery procedure (eg fasting)

You will check-in to the hospital on the day of the surgery (or the night before).

After surgery, you’ll be expected to stay in the hospital for 1-2 days for monitoring. Barring any unforseen circumstances, you’re likely to be discharged within 2 days.

Beyond that, you’ll likely have a monthly check-up with your bariatric surgeon for monitoring purposes.

For Outstation / Overseas Patients

Due to logistic and practicality issues, there will be some slight changes on the process.

1. Pre-Consultation

This will be when you enquire through us about bariatric surgery. From this initial discussion, we will strive to clarify and answer any of your questions and concerns. It won’t cost you anything, so go ahead and drop us a line.

It’s also through this pre-consultation that we determine your BMI, overall medical conditions, and most important of all, whether we should move on to the next step, which is to consult with our appointed specialist.

2. Consultation

For this step, you can choose to provide all necessary information to see if you qualify, as well as for you to ask any questions.

Alternatively, you can choose to come over to Kuala Lumpur to meet up personally with your bariatric surgeon.

3. Medical Test

For the medical test, it can be performed either at a hospital near you, and then for you to send the report over to us, or you can choose to get the test done at our hospital here in Kuala Lumpur.

For outstation/overseas patients, your follow-up and monitoring can be done remotely via SMS/WhatsApp and email, and if any medical tests are required, it can be done at the hospital near you. We can also connect you to a dietitian near you.

5. Travel Arrangements

If you require assistance for airport transits and accommodation, we can assist you with the arrangement for a reasonable fee.
